Big Economic Values of PCB Recycling

PCB (Printed Cirucit Board) recycling is quite important for both environment protection and resources reuse. Industrial insider knows that PCB contains several different chemicals, metals (including precious metals such as gold, silver and copper) and glass fibers. However, to do PCB recycling looks a tough job. For example, to split and get the valuable metal such as copper, we have to use particular chemical solution to get off them from the PCB and then gain copper by copperplating methods.

In PCB market, there are many companies to do PCB recycling, because obviously there are great economic values of the job. But we have to calculate the total costs of PCB recycling, which should be less than the public prices of the metal that you want. More importantly, there are a lot of components on PCB, which will be the second source of economic values. For example, Tantalum, an extremely good conductor of heat and electricity, is one such scarce material that is commonly used in high-performance capacitors on PCBs in mobile phones and personal computers. Since Tantalum is in such high-demand and difficult to substitute, recycling it from end-of-life electronics is important to its sustained use.

Some PCB recycling companies will take important ICs from the board and try to sell to customers who need test and start program. Unsoldering the ICs from PCB looks much more easier. They only have to make basic function test of the used ICs and renew them for sale. Although those companies look not very professional, but actually it happens in market.
